The Be Road Safe Africa program, a collaboration between Puma Energy and Amend, aims to improve road safety for primary school children across Sub-Saharan Africa. The program focuses on education and community engagement to raise awareness among students, policy makers and the general public about the importance of road traffic injuries as a public health concern in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Activities Through 2024:
- Countries: Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe
- Key Activities:
- Launch Meetings: Introduced the program to key stakeholders.
- Road Safety Education: “See and Be Seen” lessons improved student safety awareness at primary schools.
- Drawing Competitions: Reinforced safety messages creatively, with prize ceremonies for engagement.
- Be Road Safe Africa Clubs: Trained student Ambassadors for peer education.
- Kids’ Courts: Empowered students to educate traffic violators.
2024 Impact:
- Reached over 9,000 students with measurable improvements in safety knowledge.

Plans for 2025:
- Continuation and expansion: Continuing the program in Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and launching activities in Mozambique and South Africa.
